Bree Montana, DVM
Dr. Montana graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science degree focused in the field of Biology followed by a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation from veterinary medical school, Dr. Montana worked exclusively in small animal and exotic hospitals, while pursuing additional medical training in the latest technologies. Dr Montana has advanced training in ultrasonography, echocardiography, chemotherapy, dentistry, emergency medicine and surgery, transfusion medicine, class IV laser therapy and rehabilitation. A member of UC Davis’ College of Veterinary Medicine’s External Advisory and Admissions Boards, Dr Montana is the Director of Vets4Vets, a program of the VIN Foundation. When not practicing medicine, Dr Montana will generally be found playing with her daughter Ember and their ponies, hiking with her huskies, and skiing or snowboarding with her husband Bill West. Navigating the wilderness of medical diagnostics and therapies can be a daunting challenge. Dr Montana invites you to join our hospital family so we may help direct your animal companion’s route to good health.
You’ve probably seen Bill logging miles around the Lake; a top 50 finisher in the IronMan, top 100 finisher in the Western States 100, and a competitive triathlete, he is a dedicated cyclist and runner. When he isn’t helping with the management of the hospital and camp, you will surely find Bill hiking with Bree, their daughter Ember, and their three Siberian huskies, Blizzard, Ice and Eclipse, or sneaking out for a little fly fishing or snow boarding…maybe this year they’ll even get a little golf in, too!
Kristie, originally from the Seacoast of New Hampshire, moved to Truckee in 2011. With a Bachelor’s in Animal Science focused on Pre-Vet Medicine from the University of Vermont, Kristie hopes to become a Veterinarian. As a child, Kristie spent summers and weekends on her aunt’s dairy farm in Southern Vermont. . When away from work, and not studying for those veterinary school entrance exams, Kristie can be found hanging out with her four year old McNabb mix, Opi, and her energetic McNabb mix, Tio.
Originally from the Bay Area, Meghan grew up spending summers visiting the Tahoe area with her family. She received a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Oregon where she cultivated an everlasting love for all things Oregon Football (Go Ducks!). In 2011, Meghan moved to rural Hermiston, Oregon where she spent two years working with cattle and volunteering at a local animal shelter. In 2013, Meghan permanently moved to the Tahoe area and has never looked back. Meghan is ecstatic that she is able to work with animals and will soon be acing her boards to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Meghan spends her free time hiking, running, and swimming with her two extremely active, extremely cute, extremely black and white border collies- Bullitt and Stark, and cuddling her extremely adorable rescue, Banana.
Alyson moved to Truckee in 2005 and is happy to call the beautiful Tahoe area home. She was born in Italy, where her family provided a home for numerous cats, dogs, fish, turtles, and birds. Alyson is currently working hard in TMCC's Veterinary Technician licensing program. When Alyson is not working she may be found giving endless compliments to her cat, Gigi, her pug, Harley, and her handsome dog, Levi.
Sayra was born and raised in the Tahoe Basin where she grew up swimming and adventuring with her adorable poodle, BonBon. Sayra joined the Agate Bay Animal Hospital & DogGoneCrazy in late 2015 and has proven herself to be a valuable member of the Camp and Hospital team. Sayra is excited to be working with animals and hopes to return to school to become a licensed Veterinary Technician. When away from work, Sayra enjoys spending family time with her adorable daughter, Bridget, her cute kitty Oliver and her beautiful dog, Luna.
